Description: | Aims: A course to revive, develop and consolidate foreign language skills in order to enable students to start operating in the sphere of business and management with a level of confidence. Learning Outcomes: Students should be able to: * use the target language in a variety of business situations; * discuss business related topics; * use interviewing skills; * write business correspondence in predictable business scenarios; * use telephone skills confidently in a business context; * break down texts from business related context accurately and answer questions. Skills: Speaking, reading, listening and writing in the target language - all assessed Interpersonal skills, communication, team skills - facilitated IT skills - facilitated Intercultural skills - facilitated and taught Autonomous learning - facilitated Research and organisational skills - facilitated Cognitive - taught. Content: Intensive language work using all 4 skills. This unit concentrates mainly on the practical language necessary for doing business, for example telephone skills, job applications and interview practice. Teaching materials integrate a variety of forms of language through the exploitation of foreign language television broadcasts, audio-visual materials and texts. Overall fluency and grammatical accuracy are practised throughout. |
