Description: Aims:
To consolidate the student's understanding of the French notation and methods for problem solving by teaching the subject entirely in the French language.
To extend the student's knowledge of the vibrations of mechanical systems into the context of continuous systems.

Learning Outcomes:
After taking this unit the student should be able to:
* Derive the equation of vibrations of continuous systems.
* Calculate or approximate the natural frequencies of continuous systems.
* Describe possible mode shapes and modal coordinates transformation.
* Reason out and discuss in the language any problems encountered by the course.

Skills:
Problem solving; numeracy; working independently; Communicating in the French language.

Content:
Vibrations of continuous systems: longitudinal, torsional and transverse vibrations. Approximation methods.
