Description: | This unit is only available to students on the Foundation Degree in Funeral Services. Aims: This unit will introduce students to the issues, both historical and contemporary, that have stimulated organisational change within the funeral industry during the twentieth century. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the unit students will have demonstrated: * A basic understanding of the history of the funeral industry in the UK; * An understanding of factors contributing to organisational change within the funeral industry in the twentieth century; * An ability to identify and interpret issues concerning the future of funeral service. Skills: * On-line and internet skills; * To think creatively and analytically; * To evaluate arguments and research; * To consider research evidence as well as a variety of other information; * To synthesise information from a number of sources in order to gain a coherent understanding.
