Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. Erasmus+ started on 1 January 2014 and replaces current funding programmes run by the European Commission in the area of education, training, youth and sport, including the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Comenius, Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal), Youth in Action and other international programmes including Jean Monnet and Erasmus Mundus.

The Erasmus+ programme will run from 2014-2020 and supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all sectors of lifelong learning including Higher Education, Further Education, adult education, schools and youth activities.

Find out more on the Erasmus+ website.

The Erasmus Programme is administered jointly at national level by the British Council and Ecroys and at local level by universities. At the University of Bath, the Mobility Office (part of the International Relations Office) is responsible.

In order to participate in the Erasmus Programme for student and teacher exchanges as well as staff training and student traineeships, institutions must hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) which includes an Erasmus Policy Statement. The Charter provides a framework of principles and procedures for exchange agreements and work placements in Europe. It also enables participating institutions to receive Erasmus funding and award Erasmus grants to their outgoing students and staff who meet the eligibility criteria.
