The LLP-Erasmus Programme

The Erasmus Programme is the Higher Education strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) of the Commission of the European Communities, which is designed to promote and support educational mobility and cooperation across Europe.

The Erasmus Programme is administered at national level by the British Council and at local level by universities. At the University of Bath, the Student Mobility Team (part of the International Office) is responsible.

In order to participate in the Erasmus Programme for both study exchanges and work placements, institutions must hold an Erasmus University Charter which includes an Erasmus Policy Statement. The Charter provides a framework of principles and procedures for exchange agreements and work placements in Europe . It also enables participating institutions to receive Erasmus funding and award Erasmus grants to their outgoing students who meet the eligibility criteria .

The Erasmus Student Charter is a brief summary of key principles for students who participate in the Erasmus Programme, showing what they are entitled to expect and what is expected from them.
