Aims & Learning Objectives: Students completing this unit will undertake the data collection, complete the results, discussion and conclusion sections of their individual research project, and produce a final research project report. Skills: The following skills are either taught (T) and/or facilitated (F) and/or assessed (A) in this unit: * Ability to select, analyse and present numerical data (A) * Ability to select, summarise and synthesise written information from multiple sources (F/A) * Ability to develop rigorous arguments through precise use of concepts and models (F/A) * Ability to select and use appropriate ideas to produce a coherent response to a pre-set question (F/A) * Ability to formulate a research question, then develop and present an original and coherent answer (F/A) * Ability to produce work to agreed specifications and deadlines. (A) * Ability to work effectively as part of a group or team. (F/A) Content: Emphasis will be placed upon completing a research project report inclusive of abstract, results, discussion, conclusions, references and appendices. Additionally, the introduction, literature review and methods sections from the Individual Coach Education Project Development unit will also be incorporated into the research project report, but will not be further assessed in their own right. Students may be required to defend the research project and its conclusions at a viva-voce examination. |
