Aims: The aim of the unit is to give students an overview of the wider International financial environment within which the disciplines of Accounting and Finance operate. To provide a framework within which students are able to understand the differences that arise across international financial markets.
Learning Outcomes:
After attending this unit students should know about the major international markets for stocks and shares (a selection from USA, Europe and China), how these markets are regulated and controlled and an appreciation of what some of the differences between these markets are.
Skills:
Students will develop their analytical skills and an ability to present material and debate and defend positions through seminar based presentations and discussion.
Content:
Markets: stocks, bonds, commodities in the USA, Europe and China.
Regulation. Legal framework and regulatory bodies in the USA, Europe and China. Role of Central Banks or Monetary Authorities.
