Requisites:
Aims: To develop students' knowledge and understanding of how things happen in organizations, through an exploration of core organizational behaviour concepts in action: power, politics and influence at work.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this unit, the student should:
* have a sound understanding of core organizational behaviour concepts and issues;
* be able to use this knowledge and understanding to make sense of behaviour in organizational settings through working with case studies and reflecting on every-day examples from their own experience;
* have a good appreciation of their own role in shaping organizational situations and effecting outcomes;
* demonstrate ability to work effectively with peers in class groupings and discussion.
Skills:

* understanding of key concepts used to make sense of behaviour in organizational situations (T/A);
* critical reflexivity towards the subject matter and examples of practice, including own behaviour (F/A);
* research and writing skills (F/A);
* ability to debate issues, discuss and communicate about behavioural issues in organizational settings with peers in group settings (F/T).
Content:
Conceptualisations of organizational power, politics, control and influence, including surveillance and disciplinary practices, power and corporate culture, professional power and managerialism, gendered power and feminist perspectives, postcolonial theories of power, employee resistance and survival strategies, business ethics and anti-corporate protest.
