Aims: Since the end of the Second World War, Europe and the United States have dominated the global political economy. This is changing, and this course looks critically at the 'place' of Europe and America in this evolving world order.
Learning Outcomes:
Understand the place of the United States and Europe in the global economy. Appreciate the challenges and opportunities facing both actors with the rise of developing states like Brazil, India and China.

Content:
The course is based on new research and explores both the relations between the EU and the US and the increasing challenge both face in the international economy. The course is designed around a series of topics:
1. The US and EU in historical perspective
2. Monetary policy in the US and EU
3. Competition policy
4. Innovation in the Europe and America
5. International Trade: the Role of Europe and America
6. Investment and the New 'Economics' of Security
7. Regional relations in the America, Asia and Europe.
