Requisites:
Aims: To examine the dynamics of social policy developments and reforms in Asia.
To develop deeper and wider understanding of contemporary Asian social policy issues.
To demonstrate a critical understanding of the diverse trajectories of capitalism and social policy. development in Asia, in response to the common transformations of globalisation and in relation to emerging architectures of global social policy-making.
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding of various types of social policy developments under different political economic situations in Asia.
Knowledge of a range of different social policy systems and issues in Asia.
Knowledge of the relationship of national social policies to emerging architectures of global social policy-making.
Ability to compare, analyse and evaluate the similarities and differences between Asian welfare systems.
Ability to compare, analyse and evaluate the similarities and differences between policies addressing similar issues or social groups.
Ability to identify key social policy issues and compare them between different Asian countries.
Ability to compare the similarities and differences between Asian social policy systems and European social policy systems.
