Requisites:
Aims: To provide an understanding of the issues of sustainability in different facets of the built environment, by a series of lectures on case studies presented by practitioners and researchers.
Learning Outcomes:
The student should acquire a knowledge of the development of the concept of sustainability through a number of applications to specific fields of architectural and structural engineering. The student should acquire an understanding of the need for interaction between different professions and the importance of team work for the delivery of environmentally sustainable buildings. Students should be able to demonstrate an ability to understand the relationship between the development of materials and technologies and the sustainability of the built environment.

Content:
A range of lecturers from within and outside the department will give a series of discrete lectures examining the development of structural and environmental systems and materials.
