Aims:
* To provide an understanding of information sources. * To develop an understanding of critical review. * To develop an ability to write scientific and technical reports. Learning Outcomes: Following successful completion of this unit students will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of research techniques. Will be able to critically review the work of others. Skills: * Communication skills (written and oral). * Data acquisition handling and analysis (sourcing, evaluating and categorising information). * Study skills. * Working independently. Content: Sources of information, library, referencing, writing stypes, report writing, presentation techniques. Research methodologies, experimental methods, synthesis of results. |
