Aims & Learning Objectives:
The overall aim of this course is to provide an introduction to bio-inorganic chemistry with a focus on the role of d- and f-block elements in biology.
At the end of this unit, students should be able to:
* Demonstrate an understanding of how and why the coordination chemistry of metals are used in biological systems.
* Account for the considerable current research attention attracted by transition metals in bioinorganic chemistry.
* Account for the bonding features relating to structural and reactivity patterns.
