Requisites:
Aims:
* To review and evaluate critically the literature on ageing and pensions a variety of social science perspectives;
* To demonstrate a critical understanding of the diverse trajectories of ageing and pensions in different world regions;
* To enable students to identify, research and develop their own arguments in international policies on ageing and pensions;
* To develop practical skills of policy analysis and evaluation in regards to ageing and pensions.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this unit students will be able to demonstrate critical understanding of the policy challenges of ageing and pensions under diverse national social, economic and political conditions, in different world regions.
Skills:
Ability to analyse and evaluate policymaking experiences and outcomes in relation to ageing and pensions.
Ability to analyse critically the relationship between local, national and global processes in relation to ageing and pensions.
Ability to identify, research and develop arguments in relation to international policies for ageing and pensions.
Ability to undertake policy analysis and evaluation applied to policies on ageing and pensions taken from a comparative or international context.
Ability to carry out independent and original analysis of concrete policymaking problems in relation to ageing and pensions.
