Aims:
* To review and evaluate critically the literature on labour markets and social protection using a variety of social science perspectives; * To demonstrate a critical understanding of policies for labour markets and social protection in different world regions; * To enable students to identify, research and develop their own arguments in international policies for labour markets and social protection; * To develop practical skills of analysis and evaluation of policies for labour markets and social protection. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit students will be able to demonstrate critical understanding of the challenges in regards to labour markets and social protection under diverse national social, economic and political conditions, in different world regions. Skills: Ability to analyse and evaluate international policymaking experiences and outcomes in regards to labour markets and social protection. Ability to analyse critically the relationship between local, national and global processes in regards to labour markets and social protection. Ability to identify, research and develop arguments in regards to international policies for labour markets and social protection. Ability to undertake policy analysis and evaluation in regards to labour markets and social protection in a comparative or international context.
