Director of Finance, Martin Williams

martin williamsMartin graduated from the Cardiff University in 1987 with a BSc (Econ) in Politics. He joined Redland Bricks graduate programme later that year and completed the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting examinations in 1990. He has gained a wide range of financial and management experience having been employed in several financial roles primarily within manufacturing and distribution companies.

Martin joined the University of Bath in 2007 as the Head of Financial Services and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2012. As Director of Finance he is responsible for the leadership, operation and development of the Finance and Procurement team and for the financial and budgeting processes within the University. He has lived in Bath for 25 years and is a Governor at Beechen Cliff school and a youth football coach.



University Secretary, Mark Humphriss

Mark HumphrissMark Humphriss graduated with a BA in French and Economics from Reading University. He qualified in 1994 as a Chartered Secretary and was elected Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators in 2003.

Prior to joining the University of Bath in 2007, he worked for the Church of England in a variety of roles. This included a major review of the structures of the Church of England, working for a national charity on secondment, responsibility for the Church’s national budget and involvement with the 11 universities of Church of England foundation.
As University Secretary he is Secretary of the University Council and his responsibilities include the Student Immigration Service, international student recruitment, the Secretariat, the Legal Office, emergency management, oversight of degree ceremonies and other major events, ethics and the Dental Centre. He chairs the Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety Committees and, as part of the senior management team, is involved in a range of other matters across the University.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Heads of University Administration. He is a director of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator and member of its Finance Committee, Trustee of the Holburne Museum, and Chair of its Higher Education Strategy Board and Vice-Chair of Designability Charity Limited.

Director of Policy & Planning, Dr Nicky Kemp

Dr Nicky Kemp Nicky Kemp joined the University of Bath in 1997 as a member of the Registrar's Office. She had central responsibility for quality support, including QAA subject reviews, institutional audit and collaborative partnerships with regional FE colleges.

In 1999, she became Executive Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, working closely with the top management team to develop and support the implementation of institutional initiatives, policies and strategies. She plays a key role in supporting corporate and annual planning, liaison with the Office for Students (OfS) and risk management.

In 2008 she was appointed Director of Policy and Planning. From February 2008 to April 2012 she also had responsibility for the University's Corporate Communications Services.

Nicky graduated from the University of Bath in 1983 with a BSc in Applied Biology and received a PhD in Zoology from the University of London in 1987. She also obtained an MA in Historical Studies from the University of Greenwich in 1990. Prior to joining the University of Bath as a member of staff, she was a Faculty Registrar for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Greenwich.
