Dr Helen Cornwell

Helen Cornwell is the Project Manager for two EU funded projects: ISOBIO (Development and Demonstration of Highly Insulating, Construction Materials from Bio-derived Aggregates) and AMANAC (Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology Cluster), a Coordinated Support Action (CSA) for the enhancement of the impact of Energy Efficient Buildings in Public-Private Partnership projects.

Helen has a first degree in Production Engineering from Cardiff University, and following a short time in industry was appointed as the Sir George Dowty Research Assistant at Brunel University where she completed her PhD in Manufacturing Systems.

She is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and has worked in a variety of industries throughout her career, including Aerospace, Oil, IT and Consultancy.

In 2012 she returned to academia as a Daphne Jackson Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, sponsored by the University of Bath and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Following the completion of her research in Cost and Performance Modelling for Water Industry Assets she then moved into Project Management, working on an EU funded Eco-Design project.

Helen is a member of the Women’s Engineering Society and organises events for her local group, the Thames and Chiltern cluster.
