Professor Steve Denton

Professor Steve Denton is a visiting professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Steve is Director of Engineering at Parsons Brinckerhoff and heads their Technical Leadership Team. His interests and experience span many facets of engineering and strategic consultancy, research and construction. In addition to his business and project leadership responsibilities, he retains a high degree of technical involvement in projects.
Steve is experienced in the design, assessment and strengthening of bridges and structures. He has particular expertise in the development and drafting of Standards, research and development in numerous fields of structural engineering, and the development of refined analysis and assessment techniques.
He has a strong track record of research and innovation, and has been responsible for many technically pioneering projects. Steve is internationally recognised for his work in structural applications of fibre reinforced polymers and the structural Eurocodes. He has led major projects in fields ranging from optimising asset management strategies to climate change adaptation.
Steve sits on numerous national and international committees and steering groups, and was recently appointed as the Chairman of CEN/TC 250, the international committee with responsibility for the structural Eurocodes. He is also the UK Head of Delegation for fib (International federation for structural concrete) and Chair of fibUK. He is regularly invited to give lectures around the world and has published extensively.
