Dear colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that Alex Butler has joined us to lead the Department of Computing Services on an interim basis.
As some of you may be aware, Andrew Lee, Director of Computing Services, has been unwell and is unlikely to return for some time.
I thank all staff in Computing Services for maintaining the department’s support for the University during Andrew’s absence. Alex joined us on Monday 2 July for six months.
She has been a senior technology leader across a number sectors and organisations. As the Digital Policy lead at the Cabinet Office, she led the transformation of the UK Government’s use of digital technologies and was Directgov’s first leader. She has also worked in organisations from digital startups to multinational technology organisations such as BT and Cable & Wireless.
Alex will draw on her skills and widespread experience to help the department meet the challenge of an ever changing world for our students and academic staff. I know you will offer her a warm welcome to the University.
