Economics at the University of Bath has been ranked eighth overall in The Complete University Guide 2019. This is one place up from last year.

Economics was also ranked ninth for Research Quality and in the top three for Graduate Prospects.

Graduate Prospects measures the employability of graduates on completion of their courses at the university.

Our highly-ranked graduate prospects are the combined result of both the academic training provided by the Department of Economics and the University’s long-established scheme of one-year work placements. About two thirds of our economics students participate in this scheme as part of their degree.

The Head of the Department of Economics, Dr Peter Postl, commented: “I am very pleased to see economics at Bath featured highly yet again in The Complete University Guide’s Subject Table for Economics.

"The collaboration between the Department of Economics and its dedicated placement team is a key contributor to our students’ success in securing formative work placements and going on to impressive careers in the financial sector, consultancy, government, and many more. But the real testament to our success as a Department are our students themselves, who have the initiative and maturity to seize opportunities and embrace confidently the interface between rigorous academic study and the multitude of challenges inherent in real-world academic problems.”
