Digital platforms and services are critical to our ability to attract and retain the best and brightest students, engage future business and research partners, communicate our research power and help staff and students to complete tasks online, reducing business costs.

To do this well we need to make sure we have the right skills and capabilities. This new programme, developed with external specialists, is a vital part of our ongoing effort to make sure our online presence, including our website, is as effective as it can be.

Goal of the programme

The programme is designed to develop further the capability of colleagues who have responsibility for the planning and execution of marketing communications and engagement activities.

The goal is to help colleagues to make the best use of relevant digital tools, platforms and practices and keep up to date with technological change - helping to support the transformation and continuous improvement of the University's website.

The programme will enable the University to continue to enhance its reputation, drive recruitment and conversion and support the delivery of an outstanding student experience.

Who can take part

Any marketing and communications colleagues or people who need, as a key part of their role, to regularly create and edit content for use on the University website or social media channels will be personally invited to take part. This will include those who:

  • plan, schedule and manage content
  • create and edit content
  • contribute to content

How training will be organised

The programme will include face-to-face training led by Pickle Jar Communications, online learning providers, and peer mentoring. On site training will take place in the first half of 2018.

What happens next

We will email eligible colleagues the week beginning 22 January asking them to complete a self-assessment questionnaire. Their answers will be used to create a personalised training plan.

Deadline

To be included in the digital marketing skills programme colleagues need to complete their questionnaire by 12 February at 5pm.
