MOMENTUM

A supportive community of men

MOMENTUM is a programme of weekly activities and events for students who want a non-judgemental space that is just for men*, where you can meet up, hang out, talk about how things are going or just simply be.

MOMENTUM was created as part of our MENtion It campaign which is a collaborative campaign between Student Support, Student Minds, The SU and the University to offer a range of support to men who want to manage or work on their mental health.

It runs on campus, every Thursday evening during term time from Esther Parkin on campus, and is facilitated by Tom Jenkins (he/him).

You can attend this group as often or as little as you like, and everything is always free. Sign up to register and for more information.

MOMENTUM is not a support group, it’s a welcoming community where men can take the time out to unwind over a friendly game of pool, building some Lego, or by simply having a coffee together. It is a space where talking about how things are going is welcomed but never forced.

Topics men have previously chatted about in these spaces include:

  • exam stress
  • relationship difficulties
  • feeling lonely
  • sleep routines (or lack of)
  • health and fitness
  • masculinities
  • preparing for placement and the world of work
  • every day chat from studying to film recommendations, and football results to games.

If you want to talk to someone about any element of your wellbeing please come to Student Support in 4 West to speak to an advisor. Advisors are available every day of the week 9am-5pm including weekends. Alternatively, you can email studentsupport@bath.ac.uk for further support via Teams or phone call.

*this includes everyone who identifies as a man.
