Eligibility

Staff may take paternity leave if: • they are biological father of the child, or • the mother's husband or partner (including same sex relationships), or • the child's adopter, or partner of the adopter.

Length of leave

You may also take two non-consecutive weeks of leave.

You can start paternity leave at any time during the first 52 weeks after the birth or placement of the baby, of your wish to take paternity leave. You must also give us at least 28 days’ notice of the dates on which you wish to take this leave.

You may take either one or two weeks' paid paternity leave as long as you have 26 weeks' continuous service with the University by the end of the 15th week before the expected date of birth (or by the end of the week in which you are notified of being matched with a child for adoption).

You may also take two non-consecutive weeks leave.

You can start paternity leave at any time during the first 52 weeks after the birth or placement of the baby.

Pay

If you qualify for paternity leave you will be paid at full pay.
