Dr Peter Shepherd

Dr Shepherd has a first-class BEng from Sheffield University and a PhD in Microwave Oscillator Design from Portsmouth. He carried out postdoctorate work at Leeds University before becoming a lecturer at the University of Bath in 1986.

Dr Shepherd’s current research interests are primarily in the areas of high-frequency engineering, particularly for radar systems and wireless communications.

Much of this work is done in association with industry; in particular, he has been involved in an ongoing collaboration with Navtech Radar to develop improved millimetre wave security radar systems. This developed from a knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) between the University and the company, which has led to further collaborative research work.

Dr Shepherd is also involved in two current KTP projects, one with Spirax-Sarco to develop improved sensors for the measurement of steam flow, and one with Sonic Systems in the development of their electronic design capabilities for the generation and control of ultrasonics from piezoelectric transducers.
