About this course

This session will explain the process from the initial job advert through to selection and appointment of student staff. This will include the paperwork, ID checks and working regulations and the skills students can gain through this employment. There will be a question and answer session for your queries.

The session is also useful as a refresher course for ALL staff, as some legislations have changed.

Learning outcomes 

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Confidently engage student staff and understand the process from recruitment to engagement
  • answer basic questions around tax, national insurance, e-timesheets and pay
  • explain the Tier 4 booking system to students and colleagues
  • use the casual listings check to use resources effectively

This course is suitable for:

  • all staff who employ student staff on a casual basis
  • all staff who wish to attend as a refresher, as some legistlations have changed
