The University's Recruitment & Selection Code of Practice sets out the roles and responsibilities within the recruitment process.

Preparing to recruit

Review your recruitment requirements and prepare the information required to make a recruitment request.  This includes a job description and person specification, a job advert as well as other information required for the vacancy to receive approval.

Shortlisting & interviewing

Candidates for interview must be shortlisted against the criteria set out in the person specification.

Interviews are typically used for informing a selection decision, but other selection techniques can also be used as part of the assessment process.

Offer & appointment

All prospective employees must be eligible to work in the UK and must have satisfactory references. Other clearances may also be required, depending upon the specifics of the job. Once a preferred candidate has been identified, HR will prepare the terms of the offer for the recruiting manager.
