Why arrange a visit?
School visits to the University of Bath Library typically take place for the following reasons:
- To enable students to supplement their research for A-level projects, Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) or International Baccalaureate (IB) through access to our printed resources
- To foster relations between the University, local schools and colleges, helping to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education, enabling ease of transition for prospective students
When can you arrange to visit?
- We require a minimum of six week's notice before the date when you are proposing to visit
- Your visit will need to be in our vacation period. Check the University's Academic Year Chart which can be found on the campus home page
How can you arrange a visit?
- To request a visit please email us at: library@bath.ac.uk
- See our guidance on travelling to the University which includes directions and campus maps
What can you expect from your visit?
- In advance of a visit your school group will be expected to devote class time to watch the following presentations which give an overview of Library services and how to identify resources in our Library:
- Presentation 1: Finding information in the University of Bath Library
- Presentation 2: Catalogue demonstration
- A typical visit will then consist of a short tour of the building and use of our dedicated catalogue terminals to find resources
- Our resources only support the teaching and research needs of subjects taught at Bath; please ensure they are appropriate to your needs. For example, if your students are primarily interested in the arts, it may be better to arrange a visit to another institution
