Public Engagement

Public Engagement Network

The Public Engagement Network is open to any member of staff across the University (including postgraduate research students) who has an interest in, or experience of, public engagement with research. We hope that, through joining the Network, members will be encouraged and supported to share, reflect and develop practice and ideas for engaged research activities, and to access the latest public engagement news and opportunities available both on- and off-campus.

To facilitate this, Network members:

  • Receive a monthly newsletter, outlining relevant public engagement development and funding opportunities. Members are welcome to advertise to others their own engagement activities through this newsletter
  • Can work with the Public Engagement Unit to raise the profile of their engaged research (e.g. perhaps through a case study)
  • Can attend public engagement conversations, or work with the Public Engagement Unit to devise their own conversation
  • Receive a 'heads-up' (and early registration) for on-campus events such as Celebrating Engaged Research and public engagement conversations

To date, over 200 people have joined the Network representing professional services staff, researchers from postgraduate level through to professors and Students' Union representatives. We hope members will feel encouraged in their public engagement and willing to act as advocates within their own departments.
