The Ambassador met with our President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, to discuss ways to strengthen our links with Icelandic universities and improve access to our postgraduate programmes for their students.

Professor Paul Salkovskis, from the Department of Psychology, and his collaborators from Reykjavik University provided the Ambassador with an overview of their joint work including research projects, co-supervision of doctoral students and teaching links.

Professor Salkovskis has had a longstanding link with Iceland since the 1980s and is Visiting Professor at both the University of Iceland and Reykjavik University.

Dame Glynis said: “Only 1% of Icelandic students studying in the UK are based at the University of Bath. Given the high quality of the students from the University of Iceland and Reykjavik University in particular, we are delighted to be working with the Ambassador to welcome more postgraduate students from these notable institutions.”

The Ambassador followed his visit with a lecture at the Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution for their World Affairs series “Through Our Eyes”.
