Letter from Prof Peter Lambert: Brexit update

Dear student,

As you know, the UK House of Commons recently voted to trigger Article 50 to begin negotiations to take the UK out of the European Union.

We understand there will be concern amongst our students on the impact of the UK’s exit from the EU and the effect it might have on you personally or on your fellow students. We therefore wanted to write to you to reassure you of our commitment to supporting all University of Bath students throughout this momentous change.

We would like to confirm that all current EU students and EU students who begin studying in September 2017 will retain the same Home (EU) fee status for the entire duration of their programme. The Students’ Loan Company (SLC) has also confirmed that they will guarantee access to student loans for eligible students throughout their course. More information can be found on the SLC website.

The University takes pride in its international outlook and engagement; indeed, these are core to our identity. We place great value on the presence and contribution of our students from outside the UK, who enrich all aspects of university life and are part of the very fabric of our academic community.

Along with a vast number of other Universities and organisations, we have joined #WeAreInternational as we want to play our part in ensuring our universities remain diverse, inclusive communities open to students and staff from across the world.

We hope this message is a welcome reassurance of our commitment to supporting all our students and to the great value we place on our international community and outlook.

If you would like any information or advice on immigration issues please contact the Student Immigration Service.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact Student Services in the Roper Centre in 4West on the Claverton campus.

Regular updates for staff and students can also be found on our website

Kind regards,

Professor Peter Lambert
