Martin graduated from the Cardiff University with a BSc (Econ) in Politics before completing his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants examinations and going on to gain a range of financial and management experience in the private sector.

Martin joined the University in 2007 as the Head of Financial Services and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2012 with responsibility for the leadership, operation and development of the Finance and Procurement team and for the financial and budgeting processes within the University.

Martin said: "The University is a great place to work and I'm delighted to be given this opportunity to lead our department’s work to ensure colleagues and the organisation achieve their aims."

In his new role, Martin will take responsibility for the University's finances to ensure that the financial and procurement systems, processes and people support the delivery of the University strategy.
