The University of Cambridge leads the table, followed by Oxford, St Andrews, Durham and Imperial College London. Bath has climbed two places in the table to tenth place. Placing tenth on the “Table of Tables” is the latest accolade for the University which has also recently been awarded TEF Gold for teaching excellence, named as the Sports University of the Year by The Times and placed fifth in The Guardian University league table for 2017/18.

Since 2008, THE has compiled an annual “Table of Tables” to offer a snapshot of how universities are viewed by national newspapers. The Table is calculated by giving the 30 top-ranked institutions in league tables compiled by The Good University Guide (published by The Times and The Sunday Times), The Guardian and The Complete University Guide points corresponding to their position (30 for first place, 29 for second, and so on). The total scores determined the positions.
