I work half under the research manager with the press team promoting research and doing events, and half for the student marketing manager working on undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment marketing. At the moment I am project managing the production of the Undergraduate Prospectus.
Who was your most influential teacher or educator?
Mr Pearce was my English GCSE teacher and he was hilarious, and the only teacher at school who treated us like peers.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A radio presenter but also a vet. Not at the same time.
What’s the one thing you know now that you wish you’d known when you were younger?
Don’t compare yourself to other people. It’s not worth the stress.
What was your first job?
I was a Saturday girl at a bakery in my village. I put cream in the turnovers, sliced loaves and arranged doughnuts into a pyramid.
What’s your favourite book or album?
Jane Eyre, I love a bit of brooding up in the Yorkshire Dales, and I had a quote from it read at my wedding.
What one superpower would you like to possess?
I like to travel but I hate planes so teleportation. As long as I could take someone else with me, Disneyland just isn’t the same on your own.
Name one thing that makes you feel proud to work at the University of Bath? I was proud when we got our Guardian fifth ranking. I’m also proud of my colleagues who work really hard and do great things with very little budget.
If you could start your own dream business, what would it be?
There would be kittens and cake involved, but I’m not sure where the money would come from...
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I am one of the Co-Chairs of the LGBT+ group for Staff and Postgrads at the uni (Kaleidoscope), and I used to own 129 pairs of shoes.
