The University of Bath has been named Best Campus Experience of the Year in the national CUBO Awards, which recognise exceptional achievements, innovation and best practice in university campus and commercial services.

This flagship award recognises the exceptional support ahs offered our students throughout the challenges of the 2020-21 academic year.

During the pandemic, a dedicated ahs team assisted students who had to quarantine or self-isolate. The team worked extended hours seven days a week from the newly established Hub, ensuring that students had round-the-clock care and support.

Quarantining international students were offered dedicated rooms, with an extensive programme of online events and networking opportunities, including language cafes, book clubs and support sessions.

The team introduced takeaway pop-up outlets for students and staff remaining on campus, as well as offering daily hot meals and food packages to students isolating or in quarantine.

The team received praise and positive feedback from students and parents alike: “Regular calls and check-ins from the friendly team really helped boost morale over this otherwise tough period and made for a pleasant surprise on multiple occasions” and “During this first semester our son tested positive for Covid and the way he has been supported has been phenomenal. The food deliveries and access to medical support made it far less stressful; and was hugely reassuring”.

Jane Loveys, Director of ahs said: “I am immensely proud of ahs who worked together as a team during the pandemic incredibly hard 7 days a week. Their contribution was vital in creating a positive student experience through the care and flexibility they showed during such an uncertain and challenging period both for them and the students, I’m delighted to see their effort recognised".
