We are pleased to announce that the University of Bath is offering two Excellence Awards for the September 2019 intake of our innovative part-time Doctorate in Policy Research and Practice (DPRP).

The DPRP is a pioneering doctoral research programme which enables experienced professionals working in a range of policy arenas – locally, nationally, and globally – to develop their policy analysis expertise without having to take a full career break.

The award constitutes a fee waiver of £2,000 per year on the regular fee for the duration of successful applicants’ registration.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the award requires completion of the formal application process for the programme by 09.00 on Friday 31 May 2019.

Applications should include a covering letter (maximum three sides of A4) setting out their public policy research motivation, interests and ambitions. A full research proposal is not required at this stage. References should also be submitted by this date. Successful applicants will be informed of their selection by Friday 14 June 2019.

To be eligible for an Award applicants must be resident in the UK, and employed in a UK Government department, devolved administration, local government body, public agency or not-for-profit public policy-oriented organisation at the time of application.

Criteria for selection of the Awards will include the following:

  • academic qualifications – a strong first degree, and preferably a relevant Masters and/or publications;
  • quality of professional public policy experience in the UK;
  • the potential to produce excellent research relating to public policy and practice.

The decision of the University of Bath with respect to the selection process will be final. The Award cannot be combined with other University of Bath awards or fee concessions.
