As a Bath Languages intern, you will work with small groups and individual pupils to help them build confidence and accuracy in their chosen language. You may assist with preparing photo cards and scripts for GCSE and A level speaking exams, address misconceptions, and model correct answers. You will also support host teachers with day-to-day tasks, gaining valuable insight into the professional school environment.
By the end of the internship, you can expect to have developed confidence in supporting learners, reflected on your professional growth, built a network of contacts, and gained experience that will strengthen your employability.
Professional development
Alongside your school placement, you will benefit from training and development provided by the University’s Skills Centre, PoLIS, and Careers and employability staff within the university. This includes safeguarding training, coaching, and opportunities to reflect on your experience and plan for future career development.
Key details
- Hours: 4 per week, for 8 weeks
- Pay: £12.60 per hour (including National Living Wage supplement)
- Eligibility: Current Bath undergraduates in Years 1, 2, and 4 with the required language proficiency (French, Spanish, Italian, or German depending on placement)
- Location: University of Bath and partner schools in Bath
Support
You will be assigned a coach from the University and supervised by partner school staff, so you will be very well supported for the duration of your internship.
