We are seeking motivated managers to complete the Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship (OCM route) and join our internal coaching network.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop advanced coaching capability while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for a UK apprenticeship you must:
Be employed in England and spend at least 50% of your working time in England
Work the minimum allowed FTE for the apprenticeship (usually 22-28 hours per week)
Not have a qualification of the same subject area at the same level
Have the right to work in the UK and lived in the UK for the last 3 years
Have a contract that lasts the same length or longer than the apprenticeship duration
Have sufficient English and maths to meet programme requirements (support available if needed)
You will also need your line manager’s approval to participate in the programme and operate as a member of the internal coaching network, as this involves allocating 6 hours of your working week to study for the qualification.

As well as the direct impact on developing your skills of coaching as a management tool, membership of the internal coaching network supports the University’s vision of developing and empowering our staff and leaders to fulfil their potential.
How much work is involved in the coaching network?
Working as a coach within the network typically involves coaching 2 – 3 colleagues per year to achieve their goals, with coaching sessions of approximately 60 – 90 minutes duration occurring every four to six weeks, per coachee. Commitment to ongoing development and supervision is also part of the role.
What’s involved? (OCM Apprenticeship)
Duration: Typically 12–15 months + end-point assessment
Study commitment: Approx. 6–8 hours per week (FTE equivalent)
20% off-the-job learning: Protected time for workshops, coaching practice, peer learning and assignments
Delivery includes:
-Live virtual sessions and learning resources
-Practice coaching hours with supervision and feedback
-Reflective logs and work-based evidence
-Preparation for professional discussion and assessment
