We’re delighted to share a new series of videos that spotlight the lived experiences of three care leaver and care experienced students studying here at the University of Bath.

In these powerful and honest accounts, each student reflects on their unique journey to higher education and what it means to thrive at Bath as someone from a care experienced background. From overcoming challenges before and during university life to finding a sense of belonging within our community, their stories shine a light on both the barriers they have faced and the support that has helped them succeed.

These videos were created as part of our ongoing commitment to raising awareness of the experiences of care-experienced students and ensuring their voices are heard. They are an valuable resource for all staff, students and applicants who want to better understand the perspectives of care leavers at Bath and how we can work together to foster a more inclusive environment.

Imroze Sahota, Student Retention and success team leader, shared:

"Care-experienced students often face significant barriers on their journey into and through higher education, from financial pressures to a lack of stable support networks. At Bath, we’re committed to reducing and removing these barriers through targeted support, practical interventions, and a culture of understanding. These videos highlight not only the challenges our students have overcome, but also the positive impact that the right support can have. I hope they encourage everyone across the University to continue playing their part in creating an inclusive environment where all students can thrive."

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the Marketing and AV Teams for their fantastic work bringing these stories to life. Their care and creativity have helped ensure the students’ voices are shared powerfully and authentically.
