Want to gain valuable experience, develop your skills, and get paid while you study? We're recruiting for two different roles in the Careers team and we'd love to hear from you.

Both roles are central to what we do in Careers. Our student workers make a real difference. Whether you're helping someone improve their CV or making sure students can find the right opportunities, your work directly supports fellow students in taking their next steps.

If you're worried you don't have much experience, this isn't a problem. We provide full training and ongoing support for both roles. What matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, and willingness to learn.

To be eligible for either role, you must be graduating no earlier than May 2028 and not on placement during the 2026/27 academic year.

Closing date for both roles: 28 February 2026

Please note: You can only apply for one of these roles, so have a read of both before deciding which suits you best.

Why work for us

Our current student workers tell us they value the supportive team environment, the skills they've developed, and how well the roles fit around their studies. Whether you're looking to build experience for your CV, earn some extra money, or simply try something new, these roles offer a genuine opportunity to grow.

As a PhD student who’s mostly lab-bound, finding something remote and casual was really important to me, and this role has been exactly that. Some days, the vacancy processing can be a bit repetitive (that’s just the nature of the task), but that’s balanced out by other bits of work and by being part of a friendly and supportive team. There is also some satisfaction in knowing that the roles I process are helping students find internships, work experience, or their first job after university. It’s rewarding in a quiet way. It’s also given me a clearer idea of the kinds of careers out there, especially for someone with my background. I’d recommend the role to other students as it’s flexible, fitting in well around academic work, interesting by getting a sense of the job roles out there, and made even better by working with such an amazing team at the Careers Service.
