Over 150 colleagues came together in the Claverton Rooms on Wednesday 15 November to celebrate our fantastic shared achievements, including rising to 5th in the UK in the Complete University Guide, entering the top 150 in the QS World University Rankings and being awarded triple Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). There were plenty of refreshments on hand and an effervescent performance from members of our award-winning ChaOS Big Band.

Corinne Evans, Vice-President (External Relations) introduced proceedings with speeches and thanks from Professor Cassie Wilson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience); Professor Julian Chaudhuri, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education & Global); Professor Sarah Hainsworth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise); and Dr Ghazwa Alwani-Starr, Chief Operating Officer.

Professor Ian White, our Vice-Chancellor, concluded the speeches and said: “It is a year since we came together to celebrate being awarded ‘University of the Year 2023’ by The Times and The Sunday Times. We are now nearing the end of 2023, and what a huge amount we have achieved since then, despite the many challenges we have faced.

"A little over two years into our University strategy, we have built on our successes and have met or exceeded many of our targets already. This is the culmination of so many individual and collective achievements across our community alongside our commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of all we do.

"Looking to the future, in spite of the many challenges facing the sector, the University is in a really strong place. And we are now building from our successes to deepen our connections locally and enhance our reputation globally so we can continue to attract the best staff and students from across the world.

"My sincere thanks to everyone in our community for their unique contributions to our shared success."
