The role is for three years, and works with the Independent Advisor for PGR students, Professor Marcelle McManus, in supporting and advising PGR students in difficulty.

The role is set out on p24 of the Doctoral Collage Handbook ‘Where you feel it has been ineffective or that it would be inappropriate or inadvisable to talk to your Supervisor, you can seek advice from the University Independent Advisor for Postgraduate Research Students.

Discussions with the Independent Advisor are treated in strict confidence; they will only make disclosures or make contact with others in the University or outside at your request, subject to legal limitations which will be outlined in advance.’

Expressions of interest are invited by noon on 30 September 2019, to be sent to Professor Marcelle McManus, setting out the reason why you are interested in the role.

Meetings with suitable candidates will be held on 9 October (provisional date). This appointment will be made by Senate.
