In this role, Jane will work with the Director of RIS, and the PVC (Research & Enterprise) on the development and implementation of the University’s research strategy, with a particular focus on research performance, information and insights.

Jane brings a significant depth and breadth of experience to the University, having worked in the UK HE sector for over 25 years. She has extensive expertise in research performance, including leading submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

Jane joins us from the University of the West of England, where she held the position of Head of Research Excellence. Prior to this, she worked at the University of Bristol in various roles, including as Senior Research Policy Manager and, most recently, Head of Research Information and Evaluation.

Jane has undertaken a number of secondments to Research England, and formerly HEFCE, as a member of the REF Panel Secretariat, across three consecutive exercises. She is currently working with Research England as an expert Panel Advisor to support the development of the panel criteria for REF 2029.
