The Centre for Learning & Teaching is currently coordinating guidance and resources for staff on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, in academic work via the Learning & Teaching Hub @Bath.

To enable students to critically engage with AI tools and use them responsibly, the Skills Centre has produced a new video guide which sets out nine key points and questions for students to consider.

The video, which in part was created using AI software, also reinforces the University’s principles of academic integrity.

Head of the Digital & Academic Skills team, Dave Busby, said:

With AI tools such as ChatGPT very much in the news headlines at the moment, we hope this video will help students to approach the tools with a critical mindset and carefully consider the pros and cons of their use. We plan to develop a series of short self-access resources to further develop students’ digital literacy with AI in the future.

Staff are asked to signpost the video to their students and make clear their expectations on the use of AI tools in assignment briefs.
