This Award is made to promote, recognise and reward excellence in the supervision of doctoral students of all kinds.
The Committee noted that Prof Elsen was to be commended for his role as a dedicated and supportive supervisor with a passion for the training of future bioscience researchers and for creating a supportive environment in which students can become creative, independent thinkers.
As an accomplished scientist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, Prof van den Elsen regularly collaborates with academic colleagues across the University and maintains a high profile within the UK and international academia.
Prof van den Elsen was recognised by the Panel as having delivered exceptional performance and conduct in the supervision of students, the support of colleagues and dissemination of research.
