The Responsive Mode scheme from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) on Pushing the Frontiers of Environmental Research is funding to pursue an ambitious, high-risk, and high-reward project in environmental science. Projects can be up to £950,000.
Institutional quotas are in place for this scheme and the University of Bath is restricted to one submission to the January 2026 round. Therefore there is an internal demand management and quality review process in operation to meet NERC’s requirements.
Please email resdev@bath.ac.uk at the earliest opportunity and no later than 17 October 2025 to be considered for the Bath-led submission to the January 2026 round. Those successfully considered will receive a copy of a pitching template slide deck and invite to the panel session.
