The evening was a chance for the 200-plus students in attendance to mix with their fellow scholars and various University representatives. It was also an opportunity for students to be presented with their awards in the elegant surroundings of the Roman Baths.
The University of Bath International Scholarship (UoBISS) scheme was set up in the 2006/07 academic year. Alongside the other elite awards offered by our faculties, it has expanded to become a significant fund, awarding about £360,000 each year.
Due to the ongoing generosity of our alumni and corporate donors, there are also a number of other scholarships that are made available to international students. These include:
- the Santander scheme for students from Latin America
- the Jack Cater award for a Hong Kong University graduate
- the Frank Wallace scholarship for a Chinese student of Mechanical Engineering
We would like to thank the Right Worshipful The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Ian Gilchrist, who gave a warmly-received congratulatory speech to the attendees, as well as Professor Veronica Hope Hailey, Dean & Head of the School of Management, who welcomed the scholars to the University and encouraged them to grasp all the opportunities presented during their time here.
