Our Chief Operating Officer, Keith Zimmerman, will be leaving the University of Bath at the end of January 2023 to take up an Executive Director role at King’s College London.

Keith Zimmerman has achieved a great deal during his time at Bath. Appointed shortly before the first Covid lockdown in the UK, he was instrumental in our pandemic response, including setting up the professional service structures and processes that helped us maintain agility despite a rapidly changing situation. Keith also worked with colleagues across the University to lead our Brexit preparations.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Ian White said:

“I would like to thank Keith warmly for all he has achieved during his time with us, and for the energy and drive he has brought to his role. He leaves a legacy of excellence at Bath, for which we are grateful.

“We are grateful for all that he has contributed, from his key role in our pandemic response, to leading on major building projects, and recruiting so successfully to newly configured roles, including our new Chief Information and Digital Officer, Director of the Strategic Projects Office, Director of Campus Infrastructure and Director of Education and Student Services. We wish him every success in his new role at King’s College London.”

Keith Zimmerman, Chief Operating Officer, said:

“Having overseen the completion of the IAAPS facility and School of Management building, set up the Strategic Projects Office, initiated our new Digital programme and led the review of Estates and Ahs leading to our new Campus Infrastructure and Campus Services departments, it feels like the right time to take on a new challenge.

“I will miss working with truly outstanding colleagues here at Bath, and engaging with people across the University, including through our regular Heads of Department ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I feel fortunate to have worked alongside superb Professional Services teams, including those it’s been my privilege to lead in my time here. I feel real pride in their hard work and invaluable contributions to our recent success in the National Student Survey and our award as The Times and Sunday Times University of the Year.

“The opportunity to become Executive Director for Transformation of Education and Student Outcomes at King’s College London was too good an opportunity to miss. I’ll be leading a multi-year transformation programme to support its strategy to enable student success, which is a challenge I will relish. There is still much to do before I leave Bath and I look forward to continuing working with colleagues until next January.”

Keith Zimmerman will continue as Chief Operating Officer until Friday 27 January 2023. Arrangements for a smooth transition will be put in place over the weeks to come.
