Whether you’re just starting out or already confident in another language, this is a chance to practise speaking in a relaxed and welcoming environment organised jointly by the SU, PoLIS, and the Skills Centre.
How it works
You’ll join small conversation groups led by volunteers who are fluent or native speakers. Every language has three conversation groups: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. The theme for this session is “Summer plans”, offering a gentle way to start conversations and connect with others across the university.
What to expect
You’re encouraged to take part, but there’s no pressure to speak straight away. Feel free to listen in and join when you’re ready. Free tea, coffee and snacks will be available – just remember to bring your own cup. Booking in advance via MySkills is required, and you will be asked to indicate the language you wish to practise and your level of proficiency.
Who can attend
The Language Café is open to all students, staff and alumni. It’s a great way to meet new people, explore different cultures and build confidence in using another language.
