Enrolment is now open for staff wishing to join a language course at the University of Bath in the 2025–26 academic year. These courses offer a valuable opportunity to strengthen your professional profile, build intercultural understanding, and pursue a personally enriching learning experience alongside your work.
Languages available include Arabic, French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish, with classes offered from Beginner to Advanced level. (Please note that Japanese courses are currently postponed until further notice.)
Course timetables
Timetables for Semesters 1 and 2 are available to view on MySkills. Enrolment opens at midday on Monday 15 September 2025 and will close at midday on Thursday 16 October 2025 for Semester 1, and at midday on Wednesday 12 February 2026 for Semester 2.
Course fees
All staff benefit from heavily discounted concessionary fees, so only pay £99 per semester, per course.

If you haven’t studied a language with us previously, you can take a placement test (available through MySkills) to make sure you enrol at the right level.

If you're undecided about which course or level to choose, or would simply like to meet the teaching team, we encourage you to attend one of our Meet the teacher sessions in the Library from 12:00 to 14:00 on the following dates:

- Wednesday 1 October 2025
- Thursday 2 October 2025
