All students and staff at the University can enrol on a language course alongside their study or work to enhance their career prospects, develop intercultural competence, and enjoy a rewarding learning experience. Learning another language develops a wide range of vital employability skills and is a great way to support a work placement or study abroad. It’s also tremendous fun and a fantastic opportunity to meet new people – all students, members of staff, and members of the public learn together in these classes.
Available languages
We offer courses in six different languages, ranging from Beginners to Advanced: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Where applicable, the course levels are based on the Common European Framework.
Most languages offer classes at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced, each semester.
All students and staff at the University are offered concessionary rates, and fully funded places are available for Bath Bursary recipients and Gold Scholars.
