The University is pleased to announce the appointment of Lydia Lee as the University’s new Director of Advancement.

Lydia brings extensive experience of alumni relations and fundraising from the Higher Education, charity and cultural sectors. Most recently Fundraising Director at the National Trust, she was also Director of Development for the Science Museum Group, with a strong track record of successfully leading large teams and delivering transformational philanthropic programmes.

As Assistant Director (Advancement) at the London Business School, Lydia worked alongside senior academic leaders, developing strategic initiatives to strengthen alumni engagement and fundraising in key global markets.

Professor Phil Taylor, the University of Bath’s Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “Lydia has an outstanding track record and extensive experience across a number of sectors, including higher education.

“I am delighted to welcome Lydia to the University of Bath to lead our advancement department. She joins at an exciting time, with real opportunities to work with our extraordinary network of alumni and supporters to make an impact globally as well as closer to home.”

Lydia said: “Throughout my career, I have been motivated by the role mission-driven philanthropy can play to advance the impact of some of the UK’s most outstanding institutions and enable opportunity and experience for individuals regardless of their background.

“The University of Bath has an excellent reputation and an exceptional community of alumni and donors as well as students and staff. I believe strategically aligned alumni engagement and development can be transformative. I look forward to getting to know colleagues and am excited to bring my professional expertise to Bath to help deliver our academic mission.”

Lydia is due to take up the appointment on 27 January 2025.
